Frequently Asked Questions about XTONE PRO

Who can access the XTONE PRO service?

XTONE PRO is aimed at stonemasons, architects, interior designers, designers, kitchen fitters, distributors and furniture manufacturers who work with porcelain and natural stone.

How can I apply to become a distributor?

You can apply to become a distributor using the ‘Become a distributor’ form. Our sales team will review your application and contact you for further details.

What protective equipment is recommended when working with XTONE?

XTONE must be handled and processed whilst wearing appropriate personal protective equipment: protective gloves, safety footwear, goggles or eye protection and, where dust is generated, respiratory protection against particles in accordance with the applicable regulations.

During cutting, drilling, milling, sanding or polishing, the generation of uncontrolled dry dust must be avoided. It is recommended to work with a water supply, localised extraction systems, adequate ventilation and cleaning by vacuuming or with water, avoiding dry sweeping or the use of compressed air where this may raise respirable dust.

Up-to-date technical information on safety, handling, processing and the prevention of exposure to respirable dust is available on the official XTONE Health & Safety website: https://healthandsafety.xtone-surface.com/

What does the XTONE PRO personalised service include?

This includes advice on choosing materials, booking appointments, pre-booking products and viewing tables in real time at our Library Centres.

Does XTONE contain crystalline silica?

Yes. Like other mineral materials, XTONE contains crystalline silica in varying proportions. XTONE has a total crystalline silica content of less than 11% by weight. This information is particularly relevant for workshops, stonemasons and fitters who carry out cutting, drilling, milling, sanding or polishing.

Under normal use, an installed XTONE surface does not generate dust and poses no risk to the end user. Precautionary measures must be taken during the mechanical processing of the material, when respirable dust may be generated. It is therefore recommended to use wet cutting systems, dust extraction, ventilation and respiratory protection in accordance with the applicable regulations.

What is respirable crystalline silica, and what does a stonemason need to know?

Respirable crystalline silica is a very fine fraction of mineral dust that can be generated when cutting, drilling, milling or polishing materials containing silica. XTONE has a lower crystalline silica content than other common surface materials, but any mechanical process that generates dust must be carried out with appropriate control measures.

Once installed and in normal use, the material does not generate dust and poses no risk to the end user. The risk arises during mechanical processing if preventive measures are not implemented. Therefore, workshops and employers must assess each workstation, comply with local regulations, train their workers and use wet cutting, extraction, ventilation and respiratory protection systems where appropriate.

How should 12 mm and 20 mm XTONE panels be transported and stored?

XTONE slabs measuring 12 and 20 mm must be transported and stored on trestles or suitable structures, with the supporting surfaces protected by wood, rubber or plastic. Trestles must always be moved one at a time and symmetrically to prevent instability or the risk of tipping over. When a pallet or trestle is moved with panels on it, it must be secured with at least one vertical sling and the areas in contact with the ratchet must be protected to prevent knocks or scratches. When unloading worktop panels, it is recommended to remove the panels one at a time, alternating between both sides of the trestle to maintain stability.

How should 6 mm XTONE panels be transported and handled?

6 mm XTONE slabs must be handled using tools specifically designed for large-format materials, and movements must always be planned before they are carried out. When transporting the pallet along its long side, the forklift tines must extend at least 120 cm; if transported along its short side, they must extend at least 320 cm. To remove the slabs from the pallet, it is recommended to use an adjustable frame with suction cups, wetting the suction cups beforehand to improve grip. The slabs must be handled by teams of at least two people, transported perpendicular to the ground, avoiding central bending, and must not be placed directly on the floor. Before stacking the panels, the surface must be cleaned to remove any particles that could scratch the material.

Where can I see XTONE surfaces?

XTONE surfaces can be viewed in showrooms, Library centres, authorised dealers and partner retailers. These venues allow you to view tables, finishes, samples, real-life applications and material availability for architectural projects, kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, tables and contract projects.

Can I install XTONE myself?

Installation by unqualified personnel is not recommended. Large-format slabs require appropriate tools, handling, cutting, support and laying. For residential or contract projects, XTONE must be installed by professionals with experience in large-format porcelain tiles, particularly when used for worktops, façades, large-area flooring, machined pieces or bespoke solutions.

Can I request samples of XTONE?

Yes. Architects, interior designers, marble specialists, kitchen fitters, distributors and furniture manufacturers can request XTONE samples via the official website, from the product page or through the relevant sales team. XTONE samples are designed to represent the design of the 160 × 320 cm slab; therefore, we recommend scanning the QR code on the back of the sample to view the full graphic design of the slab.

Does XTONE offer a service for architects and interior designers?

Yes. XTONE offers specialist support for architects, interior designers, design studios, specifiers and contract professionals. This service may include product advice, samples, technical data sheets, assistance with cutting plans, showroom visits, availability enquiries and coordination with distributors or specialist marble suppliers.

Who should handle, cut and install XTONE?

XTONE must be handled, cut and installed by professionals qualified to work with large-format and technical porcelain tiles. Correct handling is key to preventing breakages, protecting the surface and ensuring the best possible finish on worktops, façades, flooring, furniture, bathrooms and bespoke pieces.

In which contract projects can XTONE be used?

XTONE is suitable for contract projects such as hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, corporate offices, wellness centres, airports and public buildings. Its formats, finishes and performance characteristics make it ideal for flooring, wall cladding, worktops, façades, tables, furniture and special-purpose items, offering a consistent aesthetic and a surface that can withstand heavy use.

Where can I buy XTONE?

XTONE can be purchased through the official network of Library centres, authorised XTONE distributors and marble suppliers, and partner kitchen retailers, depending on the country, sales channel and type of project. To find the most suitable point of sale, the website should direct users to the official search tool for shops, distributors or Library centres.
