REGAIN: the vision of sustainable and circular production made in XTONE

Land, sea and air are the key elements to take care of in order to keep the planet alive. For this reason, XTONE reinvents itself with REGAIN. For the Porcelanosa Group company, the well-being of the planet is a very important factor in any of the processes that make up the group’s business activity, as well as the product itself.

For XTONE it is essential to improve the lives of its customers, but it is also essential to take care of the place where they live. REGAIN was born with the aim of shaping an efficient and healthy production with our environment, as well as being respectful in the processes of pre- and post-production.

Rivers, seas and oceans. Water. For XTONE, being respectful with the use of water exemplifies the firm’s commitment to the environment. Key to this commitment has been the introduction of waterless systems. This is possible thanks to technology changes in atomisers and grinding machines that lead to a notable reduction in the water footprint.

At the same time, the recycling and purification of 100% of the water resources are part of this great achievement. This is all thanks to the recovery, purification and recirculation circuits. So far in 2024, Plant 4, the production plant for XTONE materials, has recirculated more than 80% of the water recovered.

Raw materials are another essential part of the production process of XTONE materials, and using 10% recycled material in the composition of porcelain tiles is a way of helping the planet. This is where circular production begins, leaving aside linear production, and surprisingly giving a second life to that which no longer has any use. But it does. This is carried out thanks to the reuse of waste from ceramic tiles, fired or raw, which become useful and relieve the planet of waste. In the case of Porcelanosa Grupo, more than 95% of the waste generated is managed through a recycling, reuse or recovery channel.

For XTONE, circular production and the reduction of the water footprint are very important points in its commitment to the planet, but there are also other activities that reinforce this commitment, such as the promotion of renewable energies. At XTONE’s production plant, there is a photovoltaic installation of 4,516 solar panels, representing 2,439 KWp of installed electrical power. At the same time, the reduction of natural gas consumption and the recovery of heat from the ovens themselves for drying operations, together with the dry technology mentioned above, make XTONE an ECO company, aimed at people with the same values: respect for the planet.
